PhD Student (gn*) Physics, Biophysics, Biomedical Imaging

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our interdisciplinary research team to develop a novel biophysical modeling approach based on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging to comprehensively characterize the tumor microenvironment (TME). Tasks will involve the development of improved biophysical models and corresponding MRI data acquisition protocols to characterize both cellular and vascular properties of the TME. The approach will be validated using a combination of in silico models, computer simulations, and in vitro experiments using tumor spheroids grown in perfusable bioreactors, as well as in vivo studies using a murine colorectal carcinoma model. By enabling the examination of the TME within a single scan session, this new method aims to improve cancer staging and therapy monitoring and ultimately enable more personalized treatment plans for patients.
